Sherry Davey

Today I am interviewing Sherry Davey, a comedian born in Teaneck, NJ who has been doing comedy for 14 years. To find out more about Sherry, please visit her website.

Why did you start doing stand-up comedy?

I started doing stand up because it's in my blood: my grandfather was a well known comic in England.

How often do you write and perform comedy?

I perform about 2-3 times a week but I write every day. I'm a published author and I write for magazines and I'm the official Funny Mom for NBC's iVillage and Momtourage websites.

What is your recipe for a great joke?

My recipe for a great joke is taking real life scenarios and spinning them. Here's one of my writing rules: If you try a joke three times and it doesn't work, get rid of it.
