Suzette Simon

Today I am interviewing Suzette Simon, a comedian born in Brooklyn, NY who has been doing comedy for 3 years. To find out more about Suzette, please visit her website.

Why did you start doing stand-up comedy?

Why? Why not? I started doing comedy because I wanted to change my life. I was working for the show "Queer Eye" and didn't have any life outside of work. The show was very symbolic, too, because it literally transformed people's lives. So I decided I wanted to change my life, too. I chose comedy because I started creating "Hip Tips" and "Quick Tips" for the show and it gave me my first taste of humorous writing. I LOVED it. I also gained a ton of material from all the crazy adventures I got into trying to book guests for the show. Lastly, with hundreds of people coming to cast for the show, I had an endless audience to experiment on.

What do you talk about in your comedy?

I talk about Russians and how much vodka it takes before they're funny.... no, I like to talk about fashion. I'm also a storyteller, so I tend to talk about some of the more unusual events of my life like dealing with crack whores for work or living in Japan. I'm also becoming more observational.

Would you ever date comedian?

I once flirted a little with a comic and it didn't go anywhere. I realized that having someone in my life would only ruin my act.
