How would you define a successful comedy career?

Lauren Chays: Everyone in the country knows my name and thinks I am amazing (just kidding). Success would be making a decent living at it.

Phil O'Reily: For me, I'm having a successful comedy career just by going up at any club or open mic that's available. Sounds Pollianish? I want to master this art form. That's my goal.

Amy Carlson: I would define a successful comedy career as one where the comedian is able to make a decent living doing comedy while sacrificing as little of his or her integrity as possible, and still enjoying comedy in the process. Fame is nice because it validates the comic and creates more avenues for expression, but I don't think fame is a true mark of success in comedy. An unidentified wise-person once said: "You have achieved success if you have lived well, laughed often and loved much." I believe this wholeheartedly to be true, in life and in the pursuit of comedy.
