I'm back
Even though I have arrived last Wednesday, it took me a week to fully recover and get back to blogging. What can I tell you about China? It is a huge country, and I've been to only 3 cities - Guanzhou, Guilin and Hong Kong. What I've noticed is that while Chinese cities are very modern, their villages are very backwards. In the villages, public bathrooms don't even have a place to wash their hands. No, I'm not exaggerating. But their subways! The first time I rode them, I almost cried. They are the ultimate in public transportation - superfast, user-friendly, completely automated, everything is behind glass and not only do they tell you when the train will arrive, but once inside they even tell you on which side the doors will open. It was like I died and went to subway heaven.

Welcome back! The Chinese subway system puts ours to shame. And I thought DC had a great one.

Thank you, Abbi. Supposedly Japan has the best subways in the world, with air conditioned subway platforms. Someday I will see if that is true.
