Comedy show

I did it. It was totally worth it. A big thank you to everyone who came (you know who you are.) And those who couldn't, I totally understand and I hope to see you next year. First, the good. I invited 100 friends and 50 came, which is what I expected. That's exactly how many chairs there are in the basement of Maui Taco. Perfect. Second, the bad. I used notes on stage, which hurt me more than helped me. And I performed for about 40 minutes and ran out of energy about halfway through the show. I've said this before, so let me just repeat the importance of maintaining the rhythm. Once I lost it, I couldn't get it back. Third, the lessons. What did I learn? Just like I spent a whole year building up my network of 100 friends, I have to spend a whole year rehearsing my 100 jokes. What else? A lot of people can't show up Sunday night, so best to go with Friday or Saturday night instead. That's all for now.

  • I'm sorry I couldn't be there, but it sounds like there wasn't a chair for me anyway. I'm glad you had a good experience and learned from it. Going from short 5 - 10 minute spots to over 30 is terrifying, but you made it to the end with out bailing which is commendable.

  • Now I just need to find an open mic that gives 30 minutes so I can practice...

  • hey slava,

start your own...though i'd recommend you starting your mic at 7:30, but telling everyone the mic is at 8.

    rock on,
