Stand-up Comedy 101

That's how I write

To give you a better idea of how to write stand-up comedy, here's my writing schedule. I start writing at 7:00am, because that's when my energy level is through the roof. I will spend the next 2 hours writing and reviewing. First I will write a paragraph for my blog, because you, my friend, are a priority. Second is my diary, where I will sum up the events of yesterday in a paragraph as well. More on why you should keep a diary later. Third is my idea of the day, which is how America is like a single Mom with 50 kids. That's why America is so crazy. I'm going to expand on this and hit it from every angle. Someday this little idea will grow up into a beautiful joke. Fourth is my stand-up act of the week, where I will copy over a few last jokes I had worked on earlier - it is 95% done. I will perform it tomorrow at Maui Taco. After I am done with the present, I will review the past. This is where I review everything - diary, ideas and jokes that I wrote on today's date last year - January 10th, 2007. Because my writing slowly improves every year, I constantly review last year's writing for anything that I can make better. As Leonardo da Vinci once said - "An artwork is never done."
