Quality versus Quantity

When you're writing stand-up comedy every day, the question of "quality versus quantity" is bound to come up. I look at this from a different angle. My theory is that quality directly comes from quantity. To me they are not opposites but co-dependents. You don't write a masterpiece on your first day, and you won't write a masterpiece every day. Like everything else in life, writing stand-up comedy is a numbers game. Only about 10% of all my jokes are high quality. A pessimist would see this negatively but you know what they say - pessimists don't write comedy.
