How much is too much?

What's that you say? "How much to write?" Simple - as much as you want. In order for you to enjoy writing every day, you need to write about interesting topics for as long as you want. When I first started writing stand-up comedy, I would write a one-page essay a day, because I always wrote essays in school and that's all I knew how to do. Unfortunately, writing one-page essay just to get one funny joke out of it - got pretty bad pretty fast. So I went to another extreme, and I started writing one sentence per day. Which is usually not enough to even get to the punchline. And that's why I switched to paragraphs and I've been happy ever since. One paragraph a day is my writing diet. What is yours?
